In this video tutorial, learn how you can quickly create and customize graphics in Adobe’s latest version of Premiere Pro.

It doesn’t matter if you’re short on time, lack design skills, or just plain hate creating graphics — Premiere Pro has you covered with motion graphics templates. Whether you need a credit roll, lower thirds, titles, slates, captions, transitions, looping backgrounds, or logos, Adobe has plenty of available options. The good news? You don’t even have to leave the program to use them.

Quickly browse a wide variety of templates via the (relatively) new Essential Graphics panel. Apply the templates with a simple drag & drop to the timeline and then customize to your heart’s content with easy-to-use property controls. Here, let me show you how.

Find What You’re Looking For

To find a template, you’ll first need to open up the Essential Graphics panel. If you can’t see it, select Window > Essential Graphics. Once in the Browse section, simply move the mouse over a thumbnail to see a hover scrub preview of a template. Find additional information by pressing the “I” button, and add keywords and stars to further organize the collection. Next, let’s apply a template to our project.

Apply the Template

To apply a motion graphics template, simply drag from the Essential Graphics panel and drop onto the Timeline. Be patient, as it might take some time to download and apply the assets. Now let’s check out our customization options.

Customize and Stylize

To view a template’s customization options, select the clip in the timeline and go to the Edit section of the Essential Graphics panel. The properties available for customization will vary between templates. This particular template allows me to change the text, size, margins, and colors of the assets. It also has a checkbox where I can turn of the background layer and place the graphic over video.
