Functionally, it makes no difference which area code you pick. As long as your friends are in the USA, they will not be charged any long distance.

I like it but there are some issues.
TextNow is an amazing app, don’t get me wrong. I can talk to lots of people and I really love it. However, there are some MAJOR issues I’m having. I have had my phone for a little under a year and I am not sure if it’s the phone or the app. I get on it and I go to text someone. In the middle of typing, the app will suddenly crash. I will go back into it and it doesn’t save the draft. So I have to re-Type everything. That’s an issue that needs to be fixed. Another issue is when I watch a video someone sent me, it’s completely normal. I go off the video and I go to text them right? Well it all the sudden freezes and then a white screen appears, showing a bar at the top and a play/pause button on the bottom, almost like a video. It either crashes the entire app, makes me start all over on typing again, or just gets on my nerves with how often it does this. Another issue is how slow it goes. It’s extremely slow when I first enter the app and if I need to send an urgent text, it will take FOREVER to load. Also, when I am listening to background music and I’m trying to text someone, not only will it crash but it messes with the music, making it sound really glitchy and I find it uncomfortable and disturbing. Now, the app is great. I love it. I would really love if these issues are fixed! Thank you!
Great Texting App -Poor Call App
My whole family uses Text Now, including our adult daughter no longer at home. We all live in tiny towns with no cell coverage. No cell coverage means no phone service at our homes. No cell service at our homes means no text messages - Especially pix or large messages! As an adult, it’s usually ok, unless said daughter only texts to let you know she made it home safely instead of calling the house line. Or, your clients like to send texts because they’re millennials. So, we have to go with the flow and do what the world does. Text now works with our internet AND our cell provider so we can use it anywhere. Barely anybody texts us on our cell number anymore. My only complaint is phone calls. They don’t come through as well as a phone call. It’s great for texting- but needs a lot of work on the phone call app still. I mean, it works, but it’s hard to hear. And it drops a lot. There’s a lot of interference and reverb. Sometimes I can hear all the people in the background, but not the person I’m actually talking to. There’s a lot of the, “can you hear me now?” Going on with this app. But, I have a feeling one day it will get there. But if that’s what it sounded like full time - I wouldn’t pay for their service. Some days, it’s not worth it and we don’t use it. So.. there’s that. But aces for texting!

My best friend lives two hours away and has a iPhone but no SIM card so she couldn’t text me, until of course, TextNow. I only dreamed of being able to text my best friend when I pleased, and not being only able to do it once a month, because she could only text me on her dads phone. But now I can talk to her all the time, and it’s awesome. Thank you so so so so much, I finally get my dreams come true, thank you text now. Thank you so much:)

Update: As I have been reading reviews, I found lots and LOTS of people have been getting spam calls. Now this is terrifying to me. So far nothing’s happened, but I am nervous. Also I’m noticing bad customer service, they don’t respond to any weird spam calling reviews and the ones they do reply to they just say “Sorry, please email us.” Like really. Just kinda worried. Dropped one star. Also once they said “Report that to ITunes” first of all Apple is very very very popular and it’s probably not likely at all that Apple will be able to respond. 2nd of all they probably won’t be able to fix my issue with 2394 other people complaining. So that’s weird. PLEASE BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE, SO I DONT NEED TO FEAR, bye now.
