Siva Tamil Actor

Posted on by admin

Sobriquets are not new to Tamil cinema. Some are given by fans, some by directors who introduced the stars and some others are given by heroes to themselves. Shiva doesn’t quite know who bestowed him with the sobriquet ‘Agila Ulaga Superstar’. “We don’t go after such names. They come to us. I’m happy with the name as space is something I’m amazed by,” says Shiva. I jokingly ask if he would consider doing a space film. “The story is important. And if you guys want to produce it, why not?” he asks. Excerpts from a conversation with the affable actor:

I noticed your caller tune is still Pacha Manja from Tamizh Padam (2010). Did you know then that you’d be doing a sequel?
First, I should change that caller tune. I had another song in between but that phone company got shut and I can’t find that song now.

Almost all the spoof films in Hollywood have sequels. We could’ve done the sequel four years ago, but doing it now, has gives us content spanning a decade. Unlike Hollywood, we’ve also got a lot of sentiments as well as popular incidents that we are able to use.

Apart from film references, there are also everyday references to issues we encounter.
Even in Hollywood spoof films, you have characters taking after celebrities like Michael Jackson. It’s all to make it relatable to the fans. No one will understand it if we spoofed unknown events.

Home / Movies / The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Forks, Washington resident Bella Swan is reeling from the departure of her vampire love, Edward Cullen,.

What’s the difference between Tamizh Padam and Tamizh Padam 2, according to you?
(With that trademark straight face) Tamizh Padam didn’t have ‘1’ written after the title but Tamizh Padam 2 has ‘2’ written after it.

How important is a story for such a film?
It’s very important as, without one, the film will become a compilation of memes. Only if there’s a story, the jokes work. It’s not easy to write a spoof film at all. To quote an example, it’s easier to cook a dish, but mixing 10 of them to create another one is tough. If it wasn’t so challenging, after Tamizh Padam, there would have been many such films.

  • Shiva Kumar is the grandson of legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan. The couple has married as per the Hindu customs in the presence of their family members and friends. The duo donned Tamil traditional costumes for the wedding.
  • Mar 20, 2018 - Shiva aka Mirchi Shiva is an Indian Film actor who has featured in Tamil film industry. Previously he was a popular radio jockey in Radio Mirchi.

Director CS Amudhan said his sense of humour is different from yours and that that’s what makes your combination with him so successful. He also said you tended to avoid controversies.
I don’t believe in controversies. I also don’t like to resort to double entendres or vulgarity. Whatever we do are scenes which have been done many times and made popular; so we strive to make it funnier without diluting the story. We have even had many clashes in the creative process, but at the end of the day, it’s all for the film.

What about the backlash from fans of other actors whose films are spoofed?
There’s no such backlash actually. What they say is that if Shiva is doing it, we’ll enjoy it. Tamil people are mature enough to consume different genres. That’s why the first spoof came from our industry. Our people accept different ideas and that makes us stand apart.

Will there be a Tamizh Padam 3?
It definitely will but I don’t know about my part in it. I don’t think about what I’m having for dinner at noon (laughs).

How about doing a serious film?
That’s not in my hands. It all comes down to the story. But I’m not sure if a producer would take that risk (smiles). A director from Mumbai wanted to do a thriller with me but when he met producers, they told him to do films such as Vanakkam Chennai and Kalakalappu. He went back to Mumbai. It looks like I will have to produce such a film myself.

Siva Tamil Actor

So turning a producer is on the cards soon?
As well as turning a director. Whenever I get such ideas, other commitments make me busy. After Va Quarter Cutting, I went back to radio. At that time, I wrote a couple of scripts. When it was to materialise, Kalakalappu happened. I’ve got three scripts now, and I haven’t decided which one to do, but they’ll happen soon.

You seem to do a lot of multi-starrers.
The directors I’ve worked with have done such films. After Chennai 600028 with Venkat Prabhu, Saroja happened. Similarly, Kalakalappu happened followed by Chennai 600028: II Innings. I’ve now decided to not do multi-starrers for a while.

Tell us about your next release — Party.
I never sign up for a Venkat Prabhu film. He’ll say he wrote a character for me and I’ll be there. We debuted together; so working in the same team is fun. We’re also teaming up with actors such as Sathyaraj sir, Ramya Krishnan mam, Nassar sir, Jayaram sir and Shyaam. Talking about Shyaam, I was a junior artiste in his 12B (2001). So to get to work with him now is a happy experience. Whatever respect an upcoming artiste typically has for a hero, I have that for him even today.
I haven’t signed any other projects. I know that a lot of people are expecting a lot from me, so I don’t want to disappoint them. I feel I have expectations to rise up to.

Career[edit]

Career beginnings and Breakthrough (2007–12)[edit]

During his college days he often cheated in exams and he took part in various cultural events and performed mimicry and standup comedy on stage. Between his studies he took three months break and during this period his friends convinced him to go for auditions of Kalakka Povathu Yaaru, a reality show for comedy aired on Star Vijay. He started his career as a mimcry artist. Despite initial reluctance to participate, he won the show.[2] He appeared in short films including his friend Atlee'sMugapputhagam,[3]Identity, Kurahl 786 and 360°.

Director Pandiraj approached him to play the lead role in his film Marina, and Sivakarthikeyan signed the project. He prepared for his first role by paying close attention to Pandiraj's instructions and visiting Marina Beach extensively to study the surroundings, while revealing that he hoped that his natural talent of humour would come through on-screen.[4] Featuring alongside Oviya as a young couple in the film, Siva's performance was well received with a critic noting 'the romance adds color to a monochrome film', while the reviewer also noted that the 'role of Senthilnathan requires Siva to be just himself, it is just a cake walk in terms of performance for this actor.'[5]

Prior to Marina's release, Aishwarya Dhanush had signed him up to play a supporting role as Dhanush's friend in 3, after being impressed with his work on stage as a host.[6] Following significant pre-release hype, the film opened to predominantly positive reviews with critics appreciating Sivakarthikeyan's work providing comic relief in a serious film.[7] The project also marked the beginning of an association with Dhanush, whom Sivakarthikeyan has often stated is his mentor in the film industry. He was next seen in Ezhil's romantic comedy Manam Kothi Paravai, which opened to mixed reviews but had a decent run at the box office.

A critic noted that the film 'might not provide Sivakarthikeyan the platform he is aspiring for – lead roles in movies. But it does showcase his potential as an actor, moving away from the annals of a comedian.'[8]

Commercial Stardom and Continuous Success (2013 – present)[edit]

In 2013 he appeared in three films. In his first release of the year,Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga, a dual hero coming-of-age comedy, Sivakarthikeyan partnered once again with Pandiraj and shot for the film in his hometown of Tiruchirappalli alongside Vimal.[9] The film opened to positive reviews with critics.[10][11] The film became a surprise success at the box office and ended up being a profitable venture for producers and distributors.[12] His next success was through Dhanush's debut production venture Ethir Neechal, written and directed by R. S. Durai Senthilkumar, a former assistant of film director, Vetrimaran. It is a story about a Common Young man having talent as a runner, who strives to make his identity into a pride one. His third release in 2013, director Ponram's comedy Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam, saw him portray a carefree rural youth where he paired up with another newcomer Sri Divya. Actor Soori played an important role in the film as Sivakarthikeyan's close aide. It was also the first time that Sivakarthikeyan sang a song in a film and a promotional video of its making was released to market the film. He won positive reviews for his performance from critics, with Sify noting 'Sivakarthikeyan is terrific as Bosepandi because he makes this yarn look so believable on screen with his body language, eyes and dialogue delivery'. Another reviewer called him a delight to watch and claimed that he carried the script.[13] The film completed 100 days during its theatrical run and is Sivakarthikeyan's biggest commercial box office success to date.[14] Sivakarthikeyan's entertaining performances in 2013 has led him winning the Vijay Awards 2013 for the 'Entertainer of the year'. 'It was the memorable moment,' says Sivakarthikeyan.[15]

He started the year 2014 with a comedy film Maan Karate produced by A R Murugadoss The film featured him as a carefree urban youth who fakes himself as a boxer to impress a girl. The film was a commercial success.[16][17]

In 2015, Sivakarthikeyan paired up once again with his Ethir Neechal director, Durai Senthilkumar, for a cop film, Kakki Sattai. The film released on 27 February 2015. It was a story about a sincere Constable who takes risks to stop black market Organ donation and having the aim to become an Inspector.[18] He again joined hands with his Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam director in the film Rajini Murugan where another newcomer Keerthy Suresh had came and acted, who became most popular actress after this film in cinema industry. The film's producer, N. Linguswamy, ultimately failed to provide Sivakarthikeyan with his salary due to losses incurred by the film's delayed release.[19] His film Remo, directed by debutant Bakkiyaraj Kannan and produced by R. D. Raja, featured Sivakarthikeyan playing love-struck youth disguising himself as a female nurse to befriend his love interest.[20] Sivakarthikeyan's next venture was director Mohan Raja's thriller, Velaikkaran, pairing with Nayanthara and featuring Fahadh Faasil as the main antagonist. The film, which revolves around an employee fighting against food adulteration in society, was released on 22 December 2017 to positive reviews from critics.[21] He then featured in Seema Raja, directed by Ponram. The film, featuring an ensemble cast including Samantha Akkineni, Simran, Lal and Soori, released on 13 September 2018, coinciding with the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi received mixed reviews. His next venture, Kanaa, directed by Arunraja Kamaraj in his directorial debut, featured him as a cricket coach along with Aishwarya Rajesh and Sathyaraj. The film was released on 21 December 2018.It was the debut movie of SK productions. This was famous in world level based on women empowerment. The film received acclaim from critics.

Sivakarthikeyan's next venture is the film, Mr. Local, starring opposite Nayanthara for the second time. Eventhough the film opened mixed reviews, Sivakarthikeyan was praised for his performance.
